General Orthopedics

Orthopedics is a medical specialty concerned with the preservation, restoration and function of the skeletal system and its associated structures (i.e., spinal and other bones, joints, and muscles).

At Jump Start our goal is not only to preserve and restore, but in many cases enhance and optimize our patients function to a level higher than they were functioning prior to their injury. We deal with acute, chronic, traumatic, overuse, and other disorders of the musculoskeletal system. Our physical therapists address most musculoskeletal ailments including arthritis, trauma, and congenital deformities using the latest techniques. We see a wide variety of orthopedic disorders ranging from the spine, hip, knee, ankle, elbow and shoulder. Our highly trained and experienced physical therapists are meticulous in providing comprehensive evaluations and treatments.

At our clinic, the Jump Start team has the unique opportunity to be able to utilize the latest state of the art evaluation and treatment equipment to provide precise objective measures. This includes digitized hand held dynamometer muscle tester, functional alignment testing kits, goniometers, digital timing, and anthropometric measurements. These devices help establish baseline measurements and create individual goals while tracking the progress of each patient.

The physical therapists at Jump Start are also members of the American Physical Therapy Association of Massachusetts Special Interest Group on Shoulders. This ensures that our physical therapists remain current and in some cases ahead of the curve when it comes to treating these orthopedic disorders.
